The wellbeing, work and culture of the Caribbean-Dutch communities is the focus of this series of podcast conversations.   These conversations were inspired by the exhibition The Visual Life of Social Affliction by Small Axe Caribbean platform for criticism (NY). With a transnational magazine and various projects, Small Axe aims to rethink the conceptions that informed Caribbean modernity—such as race, class, gender, sovereignty, democracy, nation, development and culture. Deriving its name from Jamaican proverb ‘if you are a big tree, we are a small axe’, Small Axe embraces the ethos that relatively marginal voices of creativity and dissent can have disproportionate effects.   In response to the Small Axe project at TENT, Gyonne Goedhoop from TENT and Richard Kofi & Simone Zeefuik from Project Wiaspora speak with various artists and activists to shine a Caribbean perspective on The Netherlands.
