Casper Hoogzaad - How green you think I am?
Painter Casper Hoogzaad produces his own paint. To a base of egg tempera and pigments, he adds crystals, minerals, seeds and fruits, which he obtains from the floor of the tropical rainforest in Suriname, where he stayed regularly in recent years. While there, the inhabitants taught him about plants that might be useful to medical science and helped him find ingredients for his paintings. The Centrum Beeldende Kunst Rotterdam presents his Surinamese drawings and paintings. These reveal how the Surinamese base materials give his paintings an intense palette and a mysterious glow.
