TENT invites artists to propose a radio performance as part of the second edition of Radio Calling, which takes place on 16 May. This open call is part of Radio Calling, a series of events exploring radio as a medium and platform for performance art.

Open Call
The idea of "going live" is central to this second edition, which examines the broadcast of performance via radio. What exactly do we mean by "live"? What is left of a performance when it is captured and experienced through a recording? And how do online and offline audiences impact on the making of a performance?
The selected artists will explore these themes in a master class and work on a new performance that will be presented in TENT and streamed online via webradio on 16 May.

How to Participate
Mail the following information, by 28 April, to Anneroos Goosen via publiekprogramma@tentrotterdam.nl.

– A proposal (max. 300 words) for a 5 to 10 minute radio performance
– A recent biography or artist statement
– Your CV

If selected, a modest production budget is available. It is important that you can be present at TENT from 11 until 16 May

Radio Calling "liveness"
The Radio Calling series explores the possibilities of performance art in digital space. The second episode (Radio Calling previously took place on 13, 14 and 15 December 2013) revolves around the concept of liveness: the simultaneous presence of creator and audience, but not necessarily in one place. Over the weekend we shall examine how internet broadcasts affect, transform, and distribute a live performance, with performances by the artist duo Lucy Beech and Edward Thomasson (UK), Camilla Wills (UK), and Timmy van Zoelen (NL), a Skype lecture by Professor Philip Auslander (US, Georgia Institute of Technology), artists’ talks, and a master class. Radio Calling is a long-term partnership between TENT and Camden Arts Centre in London.
