Destination Outer Space
Places where knowledge is not always sufficient and where there is room for the imagination provide the framework for Destination Outer Space. The evening is dedicated to the most wonderful phenomena of our universe and looks at how artists, as well as scientists and musicians, are inspired by the mysteries of the cosmos. Where some try to create order out of chaos using formulas and calculations, others use this space of not knowing to create a new reality. Astronomer and science journalist Govert Schilling gives a lecture on curious astronomical phenomena, artist Charl Landvreugd presents a performance lecture on Afrofuturism, a music genre from the 70s and 80s, accompanied by ancient Egyptian clothing, futuristic glasses, and coloured hair, and Marielle Buitendijk recounts her fascination with chaos theory and how this can be seen in her work.
