Abhishek Thapar – My Home at the Intersection

Theatre maker Abhishek Thapar takes us back to the conflict in the Indian province of Punjab, where his family also lost their home. A performance for the senses, with forceful imagery and movingly told stories navigating between contradictory official histories and a journey through three generations’ of personal memories.

Abhishek Thapar (Moga, 1985) is a theatre maker, performer and puppeteer from India, currently based in Amsterdam. He studied physical theatre at LISPA, London and holds a Master in Theatre from DAS Theatre, Amsterdam. He is core-founder of the International Association for Performing Arts and Research; the International Theatre Institute and Three Ring Circus in Pune. Currently, he is building an artistic research and practice in post-colonial epistemologies, historiographic metafiction and storytelling.

Thapar’s performance is part of a lively public programme that runs parallel to the group exhibition, Going Back to Forget. During the exhibition period, besides Thapar’s performance, there will be a performance by artist Sara Hamadeh, a book presentation and discussion with artist Efrat Zehavi and a video-experiment by performance artist Nicola Unger.
