Contemporary Passages Public Talk
A public discussion with artists and cultural producers, investigating the experience of being a temporary resident in unfamiliar contexts, and the effects that this experience has on a personal level, as well as on the social and cultural hosting community and the artist’s point of origin. More broadly, the artists that will speak this evening deal with what happens in the interstices where different cultures meet and how this can challenge the notion of the ’local’. With artists Susanne Kriemann (Rotterdam), Praneet Soi (Amsterdam/Calcutta), curator Annie Fletcher (Amsterdam), director of Dutch Art Institute Gabrielle Schleijpen (Amsterdam/Enschede). Plus, with contributions from artists Rosa Barba (Amsterdam), Cesare Pietroiusti (Rome) and Mounira Al Solh (Amsterdam/Beirut).
