ART Rotterdam Night - Premiere Lecture/ Audience/Camera

TENT presents the Dutch première of the film Lecture/Audience/Camera by Wendelien van Oldenborgh. The Rotterdam-based artist band Coolhaven closes the evening. In autumn 2008, TENT organized an overview of recent work made by Wendelien van Oldenborgh. The exhibition focused mainly on film and video installations that considered Dutch colonial history. The film Lecture/Audience/Camera (2008) is more abstract, and deals with communication and interaction between individuals, against a background of a unique (public) location, the Museum voor Hedendaagse Kunst in Antwerp. Invited by the Muhka, Wendelien van Oldenborgh filmed a series of ’orchestrated’ lectures by Tanja Widemann, David Dibosa and Ricardo Basbaum. She incorporated the collected film material into the fascinating compilation Lecture/Audience/Camera.

The evening will be concluded by Rotterdam-based artist band Coolhaven. Since 1999, Coolhaven has been the ’band’ of Peter Fengler, Hajo Doorn and Lukas Simonis. In principle, Coolhaven is an electronic ensemble and first and foremost a live group. The performance element is of pivotal importance. Making use of all the techniques currently available to musicians – acoustic instruments, samplers, computers, sequencers, effects equipment and even the human voice – Coolhaven searches for the most essential sound possible.
