The Partial Declaration of Human Wrongs is for sale

Libia Castro and Ólafur Ólafsson wrote ’The Partial Declaration of Human Wrongs’ together with British writer and philosopher Nina Power. Nina Power comments, in a dialogue with the artists, upon the current global political upheaval by deconstructing a ’Universal Declaration of Human Rights’ and replacing it with a philosophy of wrong. ‘The Partial Declaration of Human Wrongs’ exists of thirty articles that proclaim various forms of injustice.

For instance Article 3:
Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security
of person. The police will let you know when
and where these rights are operative.

Or Article 10:
Everyone is entitled in full inequality to an
unfair and secret hearing by a compliant and
biased tribunal, in the determination of his rights
and obligations and of any criminal charge
against him.

The Declaration was part of an artproject made by Castro and Ólafsson for the Liverpool Biënnal in 2012. Libia Castro and Ólafur Ólafsson live and work in Rotterdam and Berlin. These last couple of years they’ve been participating in many groupexhibitions in both The Netherlands and abroad. They represented Iceland on the prestigious Venice Biënnal in 2011. From 7 February till 5 May TENT will present an extensive overview of their work from the last decade.
