The Olkiluoto 3 was the first nuclear power plant to be built after the Chernobyl disaster and will be the world’s most powerful. The nuclear power plant should have opened in 2009, but construction was delayed due to mismanagement and technical problems. The power station’s construction is portrayed on three monumental screens, interspersed with images of landscapes and scenes of daily life in the town of Eurajoki. Taanila’s work is inspired by futuristic visions of contemporary science, technical evolution, and the intersection between art and science. In in the shared space of TENT and Witte de With, Taanila presented the installation ‘Stimulus Progression (Rotterdam)’, while an overview of his films was part of the IFFR shorts programme.
