Shared Space #4

In 2007 TENT and Witte de With initiated the joint project Shared Space on the first floor of their communal building at Witte de Withstraat 50. For this fourth edition, guest curator Aad Krol (Galerie VIVID) composed an interior with work by four young designers, transforming the Shared Space into a reading-room, soberly furnished with a table, chairs, bookshelves, a hanging lamp sculpture and a mirror.

Dennis Parren’s lamp flirts with the mysteries of light and color, showing that light is the true custodian of color. Jelle Feringa’s bookshelves show the evocative qualities design can have. Interior architect and product designer Jack Brandsma created a table with a special use of material that invites touch. Thomas Eurlings used to work in the fashion industry; his independent work refers to an unknown world that can be conjured up through fashion. His mirror transports us to a fantasy world.

The Shared Space series was succeeded by the collaborative project Rotterdam Cultural Histories.
