Temple Making

Soupspoon

Storyhouse Belvédère

On Wednesday 27 November we would like to invite you to Verhalenhuis Belvédère for the final event of Soupspoon’s project in collaboration with TENT and Reading Room Rotterdam. Since late summer, Soupspoon has regularly visited Belvédère for guided tours and shared meals, exploring Rotterdam’s migrant histories and sharing stories over warm dishes. Their final event in this collaboration, Temple Making, invites you to a joint exploration of the spirit of place and time.

Based on gathered insights and shared experiences, Soupspoon will lead a workshop inviting participants to reimagine the concept of a temple—not as a religious site, but as a space for anchoring, reverence, and reflection on the discontinuities that shape our lives. Using materials provided and personal offerings you choose to bring, participants will co-create altars with thoughtful prompts throughout the space. These altars will then be brought together in a ritual, forming a symbolic temple that celebrates our shared journey of living together.

A light buffet inspired by temple offerings will be served throughout the evening. We look forward to sharing this evening with you!
