Welcome to our book club for young adults (18–30) who want a space to understand the world beyond the noise of social media. Together we'll read Elite Capture: How the Powerful Took Over Identity Politics (And Everything Else) by Olúfẹ́mi O. Táíwò, a book about identity politics and how it's often deployed by those in power to further divide groups and undermine solidarity. This book will help us recognize the patterns that shape our political conversations and understand how we can respond to them more strategically.
Our book club is a relaxed and open space. No prior knowledge is needed, and perfect opinions are not expected. If you've ever felt isolated by social media politics, unsure how to navigate differences, or overwhelmed by the constant pressure to "get it right," you're not alone. Instead of chasing the algorithm, we're taking things slower. Here, we explore real-life experiences from people and popular media, connect them to the book, and together try to understand how we got here and what might come next.
Join us and create space for curiosity and connection: one chapter, one conversation at a time.
