Each in their own way, the speakers connect their words to Griffioen’s mysterious black and white images in the exhibition spaces. Listen to poet Rien Vroegindeweij’s captivating voice delineate the twenty-two-meter long charcoal drawing, Navigating the Imaginary, explore the 3D video-mapping sculpture Flo with poet Anne Bloemendaal, be fascinated by reporter Sladjana Labović’s penetrating argument about Blankets, and enjoy singer Lilian Hak’s hypnotic vocals about the work Foliage. The evening begins with a brief reflection on the exhibition by TENT’s artistic director Anke Bangma and concludes with a celebratory toast for Anouk’s birthday!

Rien Vroegindeweij is a poet and (theatre) writer. He reflects on the city of Rotterdam and its cultural life in, among others, Rotterdams Dagblad and NRC Handelsblad. In 2006 he received the Erasmusspeld (Erasmus Pin) for his contribution to Rotterdam’s literary climate, and in 2007 he won the Anna Blaman Prize. Vroegindeweij has written ten poetry books, prose, plays, a film script, and edited several poetry books.

Anne Bloemendaal initiated the photography competition De Kracht van Rotterdam. Her Flowerdales organisation commissions combinations of poetry and photography for the walls of offices, car parks, hospitals, and other large buildings.

Sladjana Labović is a journalist and has worked for, among others, Het Parool, Pauw & Witteman, and De Wereld Draait Door. In 2010, she wrote a collection of interviews entitled En we gaan nog niet naar huis – gastarbeiderskinderen over hun jeugd.

Lilian Hak is a singer and producer. Her music takes inspiration from film noir and spaghetti western film scores, and echoes the work of Ennio Morricone. Hak’s warm voice in combination with distinctive instruments, such as the Theremin and the harp, bring to life the sweltering dust plains, desperadoes, and pioneering spirit of the Wild West. Her fifth album will be released this year.
