Gil & Moti will serve their first Israeli Breakfast (with special guest) in a series of three, for neighbours, local residents and interested parties in the new cultural podium ’t Gemaal. TENT presents Available For You, a long-term project by Gil & Moti in which they offer their services free of charge to their Arab neighbours.
Sunday April 19, 12.00 – 14.00hrs
Premiere of Gil & Moti’s video diary featuring the optician Mohamed. This Sunday’s special guest is Yusef el Halal, a writer of Moroccon descent who grew up in Rotterdam. In 2004 he debuted with the story collection Man zoekt vrouw om hem gelukkig te maken (Man seeks woman to make him happy). In ’t Gemaal this young Moroccan, hoping for a successful career as a writer, reads from his exuberant stories and poems.
Sunday May 3, 12.00 – 14.00hrs
With special guests Najoua Bijjir and Anna-Maria Carbonaro, invited by Gil & Moti and Kosmopolis Rotterdam. In ’t Gemaal, Najoua Bijjir reads from her novel Fantasma (awarded Rotterdam’s Best Book 2008) and Anna-Maria Carbonaro (resident of the Afrikaanderbuurt and creative mind) will hold a conversation with Najoua Bijjir and the public on the neighbourhood’s world-wide ties.
