From The Life Aquatic to Aquatic Life in the Attention Spa
On Thursday evening March 31, researcher Lisette de Senerpont Domis is invited by artists Anni Puolakka & Jenna Sutela for a discussion and visual presentation about the current state and intertwinements between human life and aquatic organisms and ecosystems. Since November 2011 Lisette de Senerpont Domis works for the Dutch Institute of Ecology as project manager Research valorisation. In this position, she aims to make ecological principles operational for aquatic ecosystem management and conservation. Together with researchers from the Aquatic Ecology & Water Quality Management Group of the Wageningen University, she has initiated the Aquatic Knowledge centre Wageningen or AKWA. AKWA translates state-of-the art fundamental scientific knowledge to encompassing solutions for the complex problems water users face in the light of fast environmental changes. She holds a PhD in Natural Sciences of Leiden University.
In Attention Spa artists Anni Puolakka & Jenna Sutela investigate situations from a technological, material and mutual dependency, with a focus on the sensory and unquantifiable. The series of performances are an integral part of the exhibition and is illustrated by a (half)full moon projection on the water surface of Attention Spa, that quantifies the passing of time until the next performance.
