The five percent nation or Nation of gods and earths teaches that the black man is god himself and that only five percent of the world knows the truth about mankind’s relationship tothe universe, and that they have to teach the rest. This knowledge is based on the idea of black people being the original race and white people being the result of a failed eugenics experiment. The Tricknology book is an illustrated exploration of how the five percent nation and athletes in top-level sport relate to one another, with a focus on Formula 1 and basketball.
Gees Voorhees is an illustrator who works for VPRO Magazine and Volkskrant, amongst others. Voorhees collaborates with the collective Kamp Horst with Johan Kleinjan, who previously was part of the collective Antistrot. Together they often work on illustrating projects, Tricknology being their second book project after the Copyzine DOCUDRAMA. All books were handfolded, numbered, cut and screenprinted by Gees Voorhees and Johan Kleinjan.
