Anouk Griffioen – Navigating the Imaginary
The twenty-two metres long charcoal drawing called Navigating the Imaginary is to be found in TENT’s front space. For the passers-by in the Witte de Withstraat, this installation works as an artistic diorama: when you look inside through the narrow window, Anouk Griffioen’s rich world of ideas unfurls itself. Between luxuriant leaves and plants human figures seem to hide themselves as forest animals would, waiting for dusk to fall when they can show themselves. The exhibition is curated by Mariette Dölle, director KRANENBURGH in Bergen.

The Back Room – Esma Yiğitoğlu
In the four-part series of solo exhibitions The Back Room, TENT and Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen jointly show underexposed but yet iconic Rotterdam artists. Curator Noor Mertens presents work of an older generation of artists, in the context of TENT’s current programming. This autumn, the work of artist Esma Yiğitoğlu is central in TENT, and this is also the final edition of this collaboration.  Yiğitoğlu’s oeuvre consists of sculptures, drawings and paintings. The sculptures she has made, starting from the early nineties, have stylized, organic shapes which she created using natural materials such as paper pulp, loam and terracotta.
