In 1991 and 1992 Otto Snoek stayed in cities of Charkov and Loegansk in the Ukraine. He worked with local photography materials that gave the images their inimitable colours. With the fall of the Soviet Union a quarter of a century ago, the images open a window onto a time that was about to give way to a different worldview. However, the footage that emerged from this period was hardly ever published or exhibited. The imagery has now been compiled into the new book Ukrainian Crossroads. The writer Sana Valiulina wrote the book’s foreword.
