Book Launch Esther Kokmeijer & Première Charlois Wine 2013

Last summer, Esther Kokmeijer travelled from Beijing – where she participated in a Residency project – across the border to Mongolia, to participate in the Land Art Biennial. She took a special companion, a symbolic gift for an artist friend: a sheep. In the book, Sheep, she documents her adventures in text and images. She published the book in-house. The photos and texts recount a personal travelogue with universal implications. Kokmeijer is nominated for the Dolf Henkes Prize 2014. The photo series from Sheep is currently showing at TENT.

16:30: Premiere of Giuseppe Licari’s Charlois Wine 2013
The time has come! The only Rotterdam Charlois wine is ready for tasting, and shall be put to the test on 7 December. Two renowned sommeliers, Anne van Velthoven (De Wijnmeisjes) and Annita t’Hoen (Odile Hemmen), will taste the wines and give their first impressions. Artist Svetlana Prigoditch designed an artistic label for a select number of bottles, which will be auctioned by auctioneer Ruut Ramseijer.

Charlois Wine is a project of the Sicilian artist Giuseppe Licari, and was made with help from his friends. In 2009, he planted vines in the Greenhouse of the Ot-je in Rotterdam South. Charlois Wine MMXIII is the greenhouse’s second harvest. Each year, Licari produces a small crop of nearly 70 unique bottles: red, white, and grappa, and sells them for €40 per bottle.
