The Rotterdam artists Gil & Moti spent a week working at the cleaning company VS Schoonmaak BV. Company employee Betty Lalaram, who cleans TENT weekly, lead their research on social inequalities in the workplace. Jaap van Sintmaartensdijk, operational manager of VS Schoonmaak BV, responds to their proposal for a change in the valuation of Betty. Roel Roscam Abbing had a 9 to 5 working week at the ICT company NetExpert, where he used the company’s infrastructure to develop a proposal for disseminating digital art. NetExpert founder, Leo Beerden, will discuss Roscam Abbing’s proposal.
Philosopher Karim Benammar shares his views on the artists’ research and discusses his idea of value creation and wealth production in relation to both art and industry. The exhibition’s curators, Jesse van Oosten and Michel Dartel, will moderate the event. Afterwards, there will be snacks provided by Wijkkeuken van Zuid.

About the speakers and companies
Karim Benammar is a philosopher. In his work and research, he is concerned with changes in our thinking about value, and calls for a paradigm shift from scarcity to abundance. Benammar is the curator at THNK, the Amsterdam School of Creative Leadership, and is a senior consultant for the Centre for Team Excellence in England. Benammar is the author of Reframing – the art of thinking differently (2013) and Abundance (2005).

In 1994, the Israeli-Dutch artist duo Gil & Moti settled in Rotterdam where they studied at the Piet Zwart Institute. The question of how to live together and how to mediate the ways people (don’t) coexist is a central theme for Gil & Moti. They have exhibited at Stavanger Kunstmuseum, Norway, Tensta Konsthall, Stockholm, Nikolaj Kunsthallen, Copenhagen, and Haifa Museum of Art, Israel.

Roel Roscam Abbing‘s work explores the politics and economics of the Internet. In 2014, he graduated from the Media Design and Communication MA at Rotterdam’s Piet Zwart Institute. He participated in the 2012 Kunstvlaai in Amsterdam, and exhibited with Ahmet Ögüt as part of the Apprentice/Master series at Kunstpodium T. in Tilburg. In 2009, he started the The Force of Freedom collective with Micha Prinsen.
