Opening Dolf Henkes Award 2012

Thursday evening the 15th of November the opening of the Dolf Henkes Award exhibition will take place. This year, the jury has nominated Carla Klein, Gyz La Rivière and Renie Spoelstra, who will each present an overview of new and existing work. During the opening event journalist Sacha Bronwasser shall be interviewing the three nominees and there will be performances by BLISS, Henk en Remt will serve oysters and DJ Mietze B will play some great tunes! The winner of the Dolf Henkes Award 2012, and the additional 12.000 euro, will be announced on 10 January during the festive Award Ceremony by jury chairman Joop van Caldenborgh.

The Dolf Henkes Award is a tribute to the art of Rotterdam and is presented every two years to an iconic artist from Rotterdam to honour his contribution to the arts in the city. At the bequest of the Rotterdam artist Dolf Henkes (1903-1989) the award is intended to reward artists who are as iconic to the city of Rotterdam as the award’s namesake. Previous winners of the award are Jeroen Eisinga, Erik van Lieshout, Melvin Moti and Lara Almarcegui; all respected and internationally oriented artists.
