Der Bien und der Garten
Filmed in a shared artist studio space in Rotterdam, “Der Bien und Garten” follows the artist and beekeeper Bérénice Staiger, whose art and apiarist practices intertwine systems of care and attention. The camera oscillates between the movements of Bérénice – observing, inspecting, maintaining, harvesting, almost as a self-reflection; these gestures also mimicking the actions of the bees in the hive.
“The human bee relationship is one built on time, patience and revisiting.” — Aladin Borioli & Ellen Lapper
Over Online Cinema
The second edition of TENT Online Cinema’s open call is now live! Leading up to IFFR 2022 we are happy to present 19 video works for 19 days made by Rotterdam-based artists. From 4 January till January 23rd all films will be on display.
Bérénice Staiger (DE) is an artist and art and yoga educator for children and a beekeeper. She is interested in working in and with groups to investigate a wide range of ideas and experiences connected to the same theme. Atelier Bérénice Staiger is a place where you can discover and experiment.
Michaela Lakova (BG) is a visual artist and a freelance videographer. In her work she explores digital traces, the notion of erasure and memory and how they impact our perception of ownership.
Amy Pickles (UK) is an artist and loosely formed educator. In her work, she experiments with ways to hold onto, and consider, pervasive colonial infrastructures we are a part of. In our work, redistribution (of knowledge, tools, finances) and collaboration are methodologies to refuse individual ownership.
