Rotterdam is home to a great diversity of makers and organisations. Many of these are already part of TENT’s network, while others operate beyond our current scope. TENT Welcomes aims to respond flexibly to new initiatives and developments and better connect to the vibrant art and culture scene of Rotterdam today. We are curious about what kind of projects, makers and audiences we can welcome in this way.
The selection criteria for TENT Welcomes are not yet fixed, and will evolve in response to the needs and interests of the city’s makers and organisations across different creative disciplines. However, the framework for TENT Welcomes is closely connected to TENT’s mission. TENT Welcomes is meant for Rotterdam-based organisations and makers, or for projects with a strong Rotterdam connection. Projects may take a range of forms – presentations, try-outs, screenings, performances, workshops, debates – but principally they should be open to a general or selected audience. Experimental projects, and projects involving multiple contributors or participants, have priority.
TENT Welcomes offers physical space, publicity, and support from our technicians and hosts. Organisations with budgets of their own are offered the assistance of our support staff at cost. TENT’s team will select TENT Welcomes projects based on the quality of the proposition and the availability of support staff and space.
