Tonight’s focus is on the cultural prospects of Rotterdam South. The collective ZUS (Zones Urbaines Sensibles: Elma van Boxel and Kristian Koreman) will speak about the emerging cultural infrastructure and SKAR director Chris Bouma will talk about cultural real estate and studio space for artists. Bouma is currently responsible for the cultural content of Pact op Zuid, together with Siebe Thissen and Hans Walgenbach (director of Historisch Museum Rotterdam). Ketel TV presents a dazzling compilation of the programming of TENT as a trendsetter for more art and culture on the Southside. Throughout the evening Toine Klaassen’s travelling Laboratorium voor Hedendaagse Archeologie (Laboratory for Contemporary Archaeology) can be viewed and experienced in a mix of visual art and performance. The evening will be brought to a close by Rotterdam-based band Ringer, described by 3voor12 as ‘Aphex Twin meets Mike Patton.’ This evening is a contribution to Moving in Free Zones, an international workshop and cultural programme of lectures, discussions, and debates on the urban development of Rotterdam South.
