Precarious Pedagogies: Knowledge Production in the Age of Cognitive Capitalism

On Thursday, June 18 from 20:00-22:00 hrs a public lecture and debate will take place with Joost de Bloois, as part of the exhibition Those bastards in caps come to have fun and relax by the seaside instead of continuing to work in the factory by Priscila Fernandes. The public lecture and debate will take place on account of Fernandes´ installation, The Book of Aesthetic Education of the Modern School, and the accompanying schoolbook about the history of art, ¿Y EL ARTE?.

If we think of new modes of art education in the given situation, should we fall back on formats and models of action that we already know, or should we think in terms of a new logic of action? Can we still think in terms of opposing forces, like classes for instance, or should we consider the forces at play in terms of a logic that can better be described as a form of liquid logic?

Joost de Bloois is assistant professor at the University of Amsterdam, departments of Cultural Analysis and Comparative Literature. He has published on the nexus between art and politics in a.o. Rethinking Marxism, Volume and Historical Materialism. In 2013 De Bloois collaborated on the debate series Current Values in TENT. Recently, has published an introduction into the work of Alain Badiou. He is currently working on two projects: ‘cultures of precarity in Europe’ and ‘new communisms’.

Three public lectures and four public seminars constitute the programme Cartographies of Acting Pedagogically: Working with Liquid Logic in TENT and is developed by Prof. Dr. Frans-Willem Korsten (course tutor Master Education in Arts), in cooperation with Priscila Fernandes.
