Editor of Archis/Volume Arjen Oosterman will speak, among other things, about the Monadnock Building in Chicago in order to examine more deeply the current perception of ‘modernity’ and ‘historicity’ in architecture. Sjoukje van der Meulen will supplement this with her vision of the history of modernism in art. She deems it essential to review the history of post-war, modern art from a media perspective. Van der Meulen is an art critic and theorist, and is currently working on her dissertation, The Problem of Media in Modern Art Theory (1960-1990) at the School of Architecture, Columbia University New York. Marieke Hillen, programme director of AIR, will moderate a discussion. Gent-based DJ Ichi. One will provide the music.

An Evening with Monadnock & Air
This evening, the paths of architecture and visual art cross with Monadnock and AIR. The programme is organized in the framework of the exhibition La Luna Piena, in which artists and architects display their current interest in historical elements in a variety of ways. A fascination for history is topical in the work of many contemporary architects and artists. The evening is introduced by the architects from Monadnock.
