Three characters that dominate the current environmental debate are the focus of performances, do-it-yourself art and film screenings: the ‘activist’, who has swapped squatting and banner waving for Hollywood and autograph sessions; the ‘Calvinist’, who has been taking cold showers for decades in order to save the planet, but to whom nobody listens; and the ‘hipster’, who discovered the cool marketing value of eco and invented consuming for a good cause.
