The publication Towards a Further Word concentrates on a specific selection of works from the last six years, a total of six filmic works plus a text-based one. In the publication, ther work is discussed by authors such as Dominikus Müller (frieze d/e) and Thomas Thiel, curator of the exhibition in Bielefelder Kunstverein which accompanied the book.

Katarina Zdjelar explores the cultural abstraction of familiar codes, the effects of translation as well as the socio-political and economic overtone of a musical score. Furthermore Zdjelar investigates the becoming physical of spoken words, the voice as an actant and the act of speaking within and without a defined group or community. Through the moving image and sound Zdjelar impressively captures these processes of appropriation.

Katarina Zdjelar, born in the former Yugoslavia in 1979, lives and works in Rotterdam (Netherlands) and in Belgrade (Republic of Serbia). She has exhibited her work in numerous solo and group exhibitions internationally, including Museum of Contemporary Art Artium (Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain), Muzeum Sztuki (Lodz), Centre d’Art Contemporain (Fribourg), 53rd Venice Biennial, Serbian Pavilion, Museum of Contemporary Art (Belgrade). In 2009 TENT Rotterdam presented her first large solo exhibition in the Netherlands. In 2014 Bielefelder Kunstverein presented her first solo exhibition in a German institution.
