Opening Libia Castro & Ólafur Ólafsson

On Thursday the 7th of February the opening of the solo exhibition by the Rotterdam-Berlin based artists Libia Castro & Ólafur Ólafsson will take place. Libia Castro & Ólafur Ólafsson’s work can be regarded as an ongoing investigation of the way in which life, society and the individual are influenced by socio-economic and political factors. The exhibition comprises a selected overview of their installations, video works and neons of the past ten years, revolving around a number of long term projects.

During the opening, there will be a live performance of the audio-track from the Lobbyists music video (2009). The video work records the immaterial labour of lobbyists and activists, and in 2009 won a Visual Arts Prize in the prestigious Prix de Rome. The experimental soundtrack is performed this evening for the first time live by reggae artist Rass Motivated together with his band and actress Caroline Dalton.

The British actress Caroline Dalton was educated at The Guildford School of Acting and has starred in several (short) films and theatre.

The Rotterdam reggae sensation Rass Motivated (Sherandell Maynard) has previously performed with music greats such as Damian Marley and has performed at the Heineken Music Hall, Paradiso and Ahoy Rotterdam.
