On 5 July, State of the Art will revolve around the vision of Rein Wolfs. Wolfs co-founded the migros museum für gegenwartskunstin Zürich in 1996, and became its first director. He came to Rotterdam in 2001, upon Chris Dercon’s invitation to become the head of presentations at Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen. There, Wolfs programmed high-profile exhibitions of the work of Maurizio Cattelan, Rirkrit Tiravanija, Erik van Lieshout and others. In the autumn of 2007, he became the director of the Kunsthalle Fridericianum in Kassel, the city that hosts the prestigious Dokumenta every seven years. Wolfs is one of the few Dutch curators with a career outside of the Netherlands.
